DOG PORTRAIT COMMISSIONS
These dog commissions were all painted in 2009. I am continually surprised at how individual each of these assignments are. I keep thinking I understand how to paint a long haired dog, for example, and then along comes this gorgeous Cairn Terrier whose coat is nothing like the earlier Golden Retriever puppy's coat that was such a challenge. And then Lois - all grey and a texture quite different from Cody the Cairn. And so it goes; I always find myself stumped for the first few days, and then the idiom will come to me, and I will know what to do.
