In 2008 I decided to expand my repertoire of horse commissions to include Dog Portraits. "Mimi" was my first. She is a well-loved, 11 year old Pit Bull. The process was very pleasant and the painting came out well. In this case the client
chose to have me do the photography. I gave them a choice of several great photos, and they chose this one.
"Milo" is a 6 month old Golden. He has many layers of fur which took some time to sort out with varying colors and shadows. He has the slightly concerned look so common with young dogs. "Chaco" is my own dog - the German's insist he is a pure-bred Dachund; the Americans agree on a cross between a Dachund and a Beagle - he is 35 lbs."Lola" (takes 1 and 2) is the most recent addition; she is a 2 year old cross between a Chiwawa (a Mexican Breed) and a Shih Tzu (Chinese) - or, a "Shihwawa" if you like.
