DOG COMMISSIONS

In 2008 I decided to expand my repertoire of horse commissions to include Dog Portraits. "Mimi" was my first dog painting commission. She is a well-loved, 11 year old Pit Bull. The process was very pleasant and the painting came out well. I was sorry when the project ended. In this case the client chose to have me do the photography. I gave them a choice of several great photos, and they chose this one.

"Milo" is a 6 month old Golden. He has many layers of fur which took some time to sort out with varying colors and shadows. He has the slightly concerned look so common with young dogs. "Chaco" is my own dog - the German's insist he is a pure-bred Dachund; the Americans agree a cross between a Dachund and a Beagle - he is 35 lbs, with short (but very fast) legs and a long back. "Reilly" is a 3-months old Irish Sheep Dog.
