I photographed this wonderful creature at the 2007 Marin County Fair. She was part of the MALT (Marin Agriculture Land Trust) Exhibit. I photographed many animals, but she was the only one that really spoke to me. She had just given birth to a passel of piglets, about 12, I was told, and they were in a large pile just next to her. All exhausted, but look at the smile on this sows face. She is beautifully painted with many layers of thin paint - like a Renaissance portrait. It took a lot of close attention to finally get her color. Sorry the photo isn't better.
