I made this painting at China Camp under the tutelage of Stanley Goldstein who was my plein_air teacher for several years. He had extremely strong ideas about color, thinking there was a "correct" representation of nature and an "incorrect" one. We argued at length over this particular painting, and unfortunately the photograpy does not represent the colors well at all; (I photographed it after it was varnished, which doesn't work very wel)l. I will say though, it was worth listening; the little painting just glows.
